While we were at The French Independant Wine Producers’ professional fair at London’s Royal Horticultural Halls in February, we were persuaded to enter the Decanter magazine World Wine Awards.
It was our first attempt at this prestigious wine competition, in fact, it is our first international competition entry. More than 15000 wines from 46 countries were judged in a series of regional tastings. I can tell you, we find it daunting, sending our babies off to be judged against illustrious company – but just imagine what the warehouse that stocks the entrants must have looked like!
Well, we were delighted to find out that we were awarded a bronze medal for éclat 2012 Muscat de Mireval and a commendation for our latest cuvée poète 2013 a naturally sweet muscat wine created from our last harvest of 2013.
We think of it as fantastic encouragement and we are constantly reflecting on how we can get the best out of our grapes and out of us! I don’t think that we will ever become blasé about such things.
